Urgency for food and water
As soon as she got to her room, Kayla quickly put the bunnies to bed. The poor animals were shivering, and she hoped that the warmth of the sheets would warm them right up. But on closer inspection, she realized that they needed more than just warmth; they needed food and water. Remembering what she knew about bunnies, she realized that lettuce and carrots would be the only thing she could offer. Determined to help them, Kayla sneaked out of the bedroom and back into the kitchen, ready to grab whatever she needed.

Kayla’s mother couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow when her daughter asked for a bottle of water and some healthy snacks, like lettuce and carrots. Never before had she seen Kayla interested in anything other than lemonade and sweaters. Erica was curious about the sudden change in attitude, but she was so focused on dinner that she preferred not to ask.
