A kind bystander offered to drive Daryl home. When he walked into his house, his father rushed up to him and grabbed his face. “Here you are! We have been worried!” He took a step back after feeling his son’s damp face. “What happened to you?” his father said, startled. His eyes widened, and he dashed outside, searching for his car.

Daryl began sobbing as soon as he saw his father enter the house, hands in his hair. “Where’s my car?” his father inquired, attempting to remain cool. Daryl attempted to explain everything, but his father would not trust him. “We’re going to the police,” he grumbled as he put on his shoes. “But Dad,” Daryl protested, but his father would not have it. “Wash your face!” I will wait for you in your mother’s automobile.”
