Given that he only arrived on specific days, I decided to stake out the clinic. I marked the dates and times the nurse mentioned as I planned my surveillance technique. My uneasiness rose with each passing day as I waited outdoors. I couldn’t get over the feeling that something big was going to be disclosed. My drive to get to the bottom of this kept me rooted to my spot.

One day, I followed him in and noticed dad conversing intimately with a woman who was not my mother. My gut churned as I saw them from a distance. Who might she be? They seemed to be engaged in discussion, leaning in close and smiling. It was evident that their relationship was more than just an acquaintance. After a few minutes, they strolled farther inside the clinic together.
