A sincere apology
I made the decision to sincerely apologize to Linda for any hurt, however unintentional, my comments may have caused. With a heavy heart, I picked up the phone and called her, my hands slightly trembling. “Linda, can we talk?” I asked in a softer voice than usual. After a moment’s hesitation, she agreed, and we agreed to meet the next day. That night, I stayed awake, going over every word, concentrating on the sincerity of my apology, making sure she really felt heard and understood. The apology had to be genuine, from the bottom of my heart.

A Sincere Apology
Linda listens
She remained silent at first, seeming disconcerted, but she listened attentively. As I spoke, I noticed her expression gradually relax. “Linda, I’m really sorry if my words hurt you. I never intended to make you feel judged,” I said sincerely, meeting her gaze. Her initial surprise slowly turned into a more thoughtful look. She didn’t interrupt, giving me the space to fully express my regrets. It was a first step, but an important one, towards healing and repairing the emotional gulf that had separated us.
