A snowstorm was rapidly approaching, set to engulf the town in just three hours. Most stores had already shut their doors, giving residents time to make it home safely. Fortunately, Jake’s car was equipped with snow chains, allowing him to navigate the icy streets with ease. His only concern now was whether the veterinary clinic was still open.

As Jake pulled into the parking lot of the veterinary clinic, he caught sight of the vet locking the front door. Without hesitation, he leapt out of his car, clutching the dog tightly in his arms. “Wait!” he called out desperately, his voice echoing across the empty lot. The vet spun around, startled, his expression quickly shifting to one of concern as his eyes fell on Jake. “What on earth happened to you two?” he exclaimed, noting Jake’s drenched clothes and panicked demeanor.
