Emma’s painful explanation
Emma’s small voice broke the heavy silence: “He touches me… and the other kids too. That’s why I got into trouble. I tried to stop him.” A cold paralysis hit Mark, as his heart raced and disbelief and anger mixed. He could barely breathe, the words hitting him like a punch; he knew he needed to stay calm for Emma’s sake, but a torrent of emotions was churning inside him.
