Considering that NCIS is on its 15th season – we’re celebrating! Not many shows have such a shelf life, but we have the genius writers to thank and characters to worship. Particularly the leading ladies of NCIS, and why is that? We want to honor a show that puts females’ front and center, in strong roles that others can look up to and admire. In a time of wild unrest, we thank the feminist heart of NCIS – therefore we’ve pulled together the most memorable ladies of NCIS and what they’re doing off-script. Just take a look for yourself!
Before we get too carried away, we have to say that if you haven’t watched NCIS, you are seriously missing out. And if you need a new show to binge watch, here’s one that was just renewed for a 16th season! 16! You’re set for a few months. Okay, that was a joke. If you’re a hardcore binge watcher than 15 seasons is nothing. You’ll finish it in a few weeks. Season to season we watch a team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. And if that sounds boring, it shouldn’t. From brutal interrogations, unthinkable crimes, intricate love stories, heartbreaking deaths, strong friendships, and a ton of humor; NCIS delivers each and every week. It’s a show that’s hard not to fall in love with, even from the first episode. Did we mention that the writing, casting, and just overall look of the show are what lures fans in and has been since 2003? Well we’re saying it now. Donald P. Bellisario created a work of art with JAG, which NCIS is a spin-off of, but he created a pure masterpiece with NCIS. Ask anyone, and they’ll agree in a heartbeat.
Of course we don’t want to just gush over how great the series is when we have an amazing cast to get all gaga about. Although we won’t even talk about the male characters, they’re great and all but we want to focus on the actresses – they’re the very beating heart of the series. From Caitlin “Kate” Todd to Abby Sciuto to Ziva David to Jenny Shepard to Eleanor Bishop and so on, the women of NCIS are just as breathing on-screen as they are off-screen. And speaking of off-screen, just what do these ladies get up to? Are they anything like their characters? Let’s find out, shall we?
Pauley Perrette as Abby Sciuto
And we begin with the one and only, the eccentric forensic scientist, Abby Sciuto. Come on, guys. There is no better way to kick off this list. Apart from acting, the 48 year old is also a published writer, singer, and a huge civil rights advocate. Unfortunately we’ll have to say goodbye to our Caf-Pow chugging Abby as she’s set to leave the show at the end of season 15. However when it comes to Abby, well here’s what Perrette had to say, “[I] wouldn’t call herself anything but Abby…What she represents is a smart, capable chick that cannot be reduced to a stereotype.” Preach, girl, preach.
