Julian is moved by what he saw and resolves to contact Elara for the first time since their divorce. He took his phone, paused, and then dialed her number. “Hello, Elara?” “This is Julian,” he continued, his voice cracking. She paused before replying, her voice wary. He could sense her trepidation but went on. “I’d like to talk,” he said. The decision to seek out felt like the start of a new and unknown chapter.

When Julian contacts Elara, she becomes concerned about the possibility of renewed conflict. “Why now, Julian?” she inquired, her tone tinted with mistrust. She wasn’t certain she wanted to reopen old wounds. The years had been difficult, and she had established a life without him. Julian sensed her hesitation and attempted to soothe her. “I am not here to fight, Elara. “I just want to understand,” he explained. Her guarded answer was understandable, but he hoped she would give him another chance.
