Joe Clark
Joe Clark was the principal of Paterson Eastside High School. He was recognized nationally when he made serious efforts to improve school standards all across the country. Joe was actually the inspiration for Morgan Freeman’s 1989 movie, Lean On Me. He passed away on December 29th at age 82 after fighting an illness. According to his family’s statement, Joe passed away in Florida while surrounded by loved ones.
Phil Niekro
Phil Niekro was a famous MLB player whose signature knuckleball earned him a place in the Hall of Fame in 1997. For a while now, he’s been battling against cancer but finally passed away in his sleep on December 26th at age 81. The Atlanta Braves released a statement following his death that said they remembered him as “a constant presence over the years, in our clubhouse, our alumni activities, and throughout Braves Country.”
