Tom Cruise met Mimi Rogers at a dinner party in 1985. Mimi dated one of his colleagues, but both ended up marrying. The two agreed to marry on May 9, 1987. Their ceremony was upstate New York. Tom’s best man was Emilio Estevez. Mary Lee South, Tom Cruise’s mother, told People magazine that her new daughter-in-law was “top-notch.” It was claimed this was why Tom Cruise switched to faith. Th e two quickly declared that they would divorce in January 1990.
