Anyone who has seen any of the National Lampoon Vacation films will be familiar with Randy Quaid’s character. Cousin Eddie was the character he played in the movies! Unfortunately, this excellent actor has not been able to maintain his financial stability. When he attempted to avoid paying hundreds of dollars in hotel bills, he was apprehended and fleeing from authorities. What makes matters worse is that he and his wife believe that their financial difficulties are the result of a secret cult known as the ‘Hollywood Star Whackers.’

His financial woes are not entirely his fault, as the Sly and the Family Stone frontman has acknowledged in an interview with Rolling Stone. Despite the fact that his illegal substance abuse has played a role, a significant portion of his financial difficulties can be attributed to the fact that he was not permitted to collect royalties for an extended period of time. Sly Stone stated in 2011 that he was staying in a camper trailer. In the end, the judge determined that, even though royalties were collected in an unethical manner, the money was properly assigned to a production firm that was theoretically the rightful owner of them. Ouch.
