The legal drama received its cancelation notice just one day after the season finale aired. We are sad to hear that Proven Innocent did not survive to its full potential. We would have loved to see Rachelle Lefevre and Kelsey Grammer some more! Too bad Fox gave it the ax after its first season.

In late 2018, the show was met with controversy. Frankie Shaw, the creator of the show, was accused of racist behavior, improper crediting, and insufficient compensation. In the end, this led to the cancelation of the show. Take a look at the statement released by the executives at Showtime: “After weighing a variety of factors, Showtime has decided that SMILF will not move forward for the third season.”
