Kim Carnes
There was a time when Kim Carnes was likened to Rod Stewart due to her raspy voice. In 1980, she took the music scene by stork after Kenny Rogers hired her to write “Gideon” with him. They also had a duet known as “Don’t Fall in Love with a Dreamer.” The song climbed to the fourth spot of the Billboard Hot 100. Aside from that, the duo also received a Grammy nomination for that performance. It is worth listening to her “Mistaken Identity” album, which had the song “Bette Davis Eyes.”
Alanis Morissette
Once upon a time, Rolling Stones said that Alanis Morissette is the “Queen of Alt-Rock Angst.” There is no point in arguing with that since it is the truth. She has sold more than 75 million records since she started her career. Not only that, but she has served as a record producer as well. Her mezzo-soprano vocals are worth noting. In 1995, she released a rock album called “Jagged Little Pill.” The album sold more than 33 million copies worldwide and was turned into a critically-acclaimed rock musical.
