Chaka Khan
There is no one as influential as Chaka Khan when it comes to the funk and disco genres. So that you know, her real name is actually Yvette Marie Stevens. Her career went on for five decades or so. She started her career as the lead singer of a punk band called Rufus. However, she has enjoyed a great solo career too. She was also the first R&B singer to work with a rapper, which she accomplished with “I Fell for You.” She is a critical and commercial hit with ten Grammys and over 70 million record sales.
Dusty Springfield
The truth is that Dusty Springfield did not have a hard time making it big in the United States. The British musician took the soul scene by storm with “I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself” and “Son of Preacher Man.” Not only that, but she was also a key figure of the Swinging Sixties. We always liked the sight of her in evening gowns as she performed. The musician had a fight with cancer for five years but ultimately succumbed to it in 1999. She might no longer be alive, but her legacy will be here for a while.
