Technically Tom Hanks was never given a paycheck. In his contract, it was written that he was signed up for “points” or a share of the studio’s income from the box office. In other words, this is amazing if the film is a success but if it doesn’t then not so much. The movie brought in $677 million and he earned $40 million. This deal made it worth it for him to promote the film.
