It’s probably fair to say that people who go shopping for later use groceries would like the items to last. As a result, people are doing what they think is best to prevent certain foods from going to waste. Most of us put specific items into the fridge to help them stay “alive” longer. Ironically, the fact that these foods are kept in the refrigerator does the opposite. We hasten the rotting of food and ruin its taste, all of which will eventually cause us to throw the item in the trash.
Apples
The apples are kept at room temperature for about 1-2 weeks. When stored at room temperature, the enzymes inside the fruit become much more active. The apples have become so nutritious. Keep in mind, however, that the sweet fruit of the plums causes other fruits to ripen more quickly because of the gas that the apples produce. It’s best, therefore, if you separate other fruits from apples. It is therefore best to separate other fruit from apples. If you receive a gift basket full of apples during your holiday, it’s best not to store them in the fridge!
Avocados
You should think twice about putting unripe avocados into the refrigerator – unless you want to make them ripen slower, just as slow as a snail. Instead, you should put them on a cool and dry surface like the counter.
