Long before his role as Gilligan, Bob Denver rose to prominence in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, which thrust him into the spotlight for the first time. Denver went on to star in shows like The Good Guys and Dusty’s Trail after Gilligan’s finale. Denver’s career was already beginning to fade after so many years in the spotlight long before he retired in 1997. Denver died from pneumonia in 2005.
