Vera Lynn – Age 103
Rest in peace, Vera Lynn. She survived to be 103 years old but passed away on June 18, 2020. During the Second World War, she helped entertain the soldiers! She received a British War Medal and was awarded the title of dame for her efforts. She started to sing when she was 7 years old but left school to go on tour at only 11 years old. In her later years, she worked with cancer and disability groups.

Sidney Poitier – Age 93
It is worth mentioning that Sidney Poitier paved the way for black actors. He is a talented actor who made history as the first black male actor to win an Academy Award! Once he quit acting, he pursued a career in directing and recording. Did you know that he also served as a diplomat and received British knighthood? Let us not forget the fact that he is a Presidential Medal of Freedom awardee as well. He has always been a public figure who stood up to racism and worked with many charities.
