For years, I worked in an ice cream parlor and never understood why ice cream scoops came in different colors. It wasn’t until later that I realized what most people don’t realize: each color represents a different scoop size. Depending on how many scoops fit in a cup and how many scoops are required to fill a 32-ounce tub, ice cream scoops come in a variety of sizes. The handles’ colors are appealing, but they also serve a practical function.

Brass Doorknobs
While no one expects you to be excessively concerned with doorknobs, you might have noted that they are all brass. This isn’t a random occurrence. Brass has a higher resistance to bacteria growth, which helps keep doorknobs germ-free. This is evident because people will pick up germs on their hands in a variety of ways and then touch doorknobs that will be touched by a variety of other people.
