Abandoned Railroads in America
The introduction of the railroad in 1827 changed transportation. As you can see, the majority of abandoned railroads are in the country’s eastern half, which makes sense given the country’s progressive westward expansion in the 1800s. As planes and vehicles became more popular, trains became less popular, and more railroads were abandoned.
Canadians Prefer the South
