The Drainage System
You might think that it is a simple solution, but it is actually more complex than it sounds. For one thing, the resort was constructed on top of a swamp. Once Potter was hired to work on Disney World, his first task was to build a massive drainage system that would convert the boggy property into a place that would be suitable for construction.

Joe’s Ditches
He installed drainage gutters that have been nicknamed “Joe’s ditches” after him. It is neat to hear that they continue to be used to this day. As you might have already guessed, they were installed to ensure that water always flows through the resort. This way, water does not ever have to come to a standstill.
