Magic Johnson was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Before retiring, the said player wore purple and yellow for 13 years. He bravely revealed his HIV status to the world in 1991. Johnson is a proponent of safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention and is working to dispel the myth that heterosexuals are immune to the disease. He’s a businessman, philanthropist, broadcaster, and motivational speaker, among other things. The Magic Johnson Foundation, his non-profit, raises funds and raises awareness for the disease.
