It was during the spring of 2016, when Steven Whitten along with his wife, Viola, were walking by Middleton Sands. It was the couple’s favorite beach in Lancashire, England. The beach had an amazing view of the Irish Sea and it was just a block away from their home. The couple lived in the village of Overton.

Steven and Viola loved walking around unpopular and uncrowded places, but Middleton Sands was a crowd-pleasing place for hikers and dog owners. They didn’t like the thought of being surrounded by people while they were trying to unwind.
