9. The Who
The Who – on a list of the most important rock bands in history, they should definitely not be missing. If you like destructive art, you’ll find it here, because The Who became famous for destroying their guitars and drums on stage. Their first single “I Can’t Explain” already made it into the top ten.
Their reputation spread through live performances, such as at Woodstock in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival. When they took to the stage at Woodstock at 5 o’clock in the morning, they managed to revive the dead tired audience with their music and put them into ecstasy. The band is still active and tours regularly!
8. The Clash
The British rock band The Clash also didn’t last more than a decade, but still had an enormous influence on the development of punk music. Their songs lasted less than 10 minutes, but were all the more aggressive and impressive. It wasn’t about playing the perfect music, it was about much more – about creating an unforgettable experience for the listener
The Clash weren’t afraid to try things out, and their songs contain elements of a wide variety of genres, such as reggae, dub, funk, ska and rockabilly. After Headon and later Jones left the band due to internal friction, this meant the end of the band. Nevertheless, The Clash remains one of the most influential punk bands of all time.
