The Police

This English rock band was founded in 1977 and is led by singer and bassist Sting. The Police’s sound, which gained worldwide fame in the late 80s and early 90s, is influenced by jazz and reggae characteristics. Remarkably, the band had four consecutive number one albums, resulting in hits such as “Don’t Stand Too Close to Me” and “Message in a Bottle”. Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 1983 as a result of irreconcilable fights.

R.E.M

R.E.M. is an American rock band that came together musically in the early 80s. This gathering of students from the University of Georgia was led vocally by the famous musician Michael Stipe. Another of the first alternative mainstream bands, R.E.M. delivered distinctive vocals, unique lyrics and enigmatic live performances. Although the band had a devout following in their early years, it wasn’t until the early ’90s that the band gained worldwide fame with the release of the albums “Out of Time” in 1991 and “Automatic for the People” in 1992.
