17. Radiohead

Did you know that the band Radiohead originally performed under the name “On a Friday”? While post-rock and electronica may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the last six albums the band has released have all reached number 3 or higher on the Billboard 200, not to mention their loyal fans who love them as much today as they did in the early 90s.

You could perhaps even compare them to a modern version of the Beatles. It’s only logical that the band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and won several awards, including six Grammy Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards. The Radioheads also helped usher in the modern music age by supporting the streaming and listening of music on the internet.

16. AC/DC

AC/DC is short for alternating current/direct current – apt, because their music is truly electrifying. Fans all over the world would agree. Not even the loss of frontman Bon Scott in 1980 could shake the band’s popularity. Thanks to singer Brian Johnson, the break-up was averted at the last second and the band fought their way back – all the way to the top.

What characterizes the Australian hard rock band are their entertaining live performances and their worldwide tours. Even if there are changes to the line-up here and there, AC/DC’s energy always remains the same and sells out stadiums. It’s no surprise that they top various lists!
