11. The Doors

The Doors, who emerged from the LA rock scene in 1965, were led by singer Jim Morrison. Aptly named ‘Break On Through To the Other Side’, The Doors’ breakout album, known for pushing the boundaries of standard rock songs, cemented the band’s place in rock’n’roll history. With the release of six albums before Morrison’s untimely death in 1971, The Doors’ legacy certainly lives on.

With their big hits “Light My Fire” and “Break on Through to the Other Side”, they made a name for themselves that no one will forget in a hurry. They were one of the most successful bands in the late 60s and early 70s. Until Morrison’s death in 1971, shortly after which the band was forced to disband.

10. Nirvana

Although the band Nirvana is relatively young compared to most of the other bands on this list, its influence on modern rock culture cannot be denied. It was founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurz Cobain, who spoke from the heart of his generation, Generation X. And even today, more than 30 years later, new fans are still joining.
