7. The Beatles

A world without the Beatles? It’s impossible to imagine. It is not without reason that they are THE most successful band in music history and were regarded as THE musical act in the United Kingdom in the 1960s. The Liverpool-based band produced hit after hit and achieved in 10 years what many bands fail to do in three times that time. There is no question that they continue to inspire people with their music today.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star made their international breakthrough with their single “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. 6. Ramones

The Ramones are a band from Queens, a borough in New York City. Their hits with simple harmonies and structures, but all the more speed and volume, made punk famous and popular in the 70s. And all because they didn’t like the rock music produced at the time. All the band members took the name Ramone, giving the impression that they were brothers. They “borrowed” the name from Paul McCartney’s pseudonym Paul Ramon.

With their ripped jeans, white shirts and leather jackets, they were considered trendsetters for the punk movement. After 22 years and 2,263 concerts, the band announced their break-up. The four founding members have sadly all passed away in the meantime, but they live on in their songs.
