Today’s value: 50,000 US dollars*

The BMW Isetta 250 is not a car with the fastest speed. Not by any means. The Isetta doesn’t even reach 55 km/h. However, BMW’s bubble car hatchback with its 0.2-liter 2V inline-1 gasoline engine can do 53 mph – the top speed of this little “beamer.” The BMW Isetta 250 seems so familiar to all the Gen X and Gen Y folks out there. That’s because it’s the same front-wheel-drive BMW model that Steve Urkel of Family Matters popularized back in the ’90s. The BMW 250 shows that the quest for speed doesn’t take center stage in a conventional car.

The Ford Model T is probably the first car in the world that the average American could afford. In the first year of production, it was possible to purchase a Model T for $825 ($26,000 in 2022).
