Express stated last year that it plans to shutter 100 of its shops by 2022, starting with 31 locations in 20 states in January 2020. Another 35 shops are set to close by the end of January 2021, with another 25 following the following year.

The office supply business would shut an unspecified number of stores and lay off approximately 13,000 workers by 2023. The initiatives, according to sources, are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to save costs as it transforms from a traditional shop to an IT services provider.
