On that day, Pirates beat the Yankees in the World Series for the first time in 35 years. Bill Mazeroski was able to hit the ball, and his moment was known as the first walk-off home run in World Series history in Game 7 of the series. The ball went over the left-field fence that gave the Pirates a 10-9 victory.
