Dante Alighieri
Dante Alighieri, born in 1454, is the author of The Divine Comedy. In the late Middle Ages, he was one of Italy’s most renowned poets, and his works were translated into other languages. His writings included portrayals of Hell and Heaven, and some of the concepts he espoused are now widely accepted by Christian institutions. In addition to being a poet, he was a renowned philosopher whose ideas are still relevant today. He died at the age of 56 in 1321, making him the oldest person to have ever lived.
