Mark Hamill Then
In the original Star Wars trilogy, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, was a cultural figure who influenced generations of filmmakers. Mark’s Star Wars fame didn’t always bode well for his career prospects. One producer stated emphatically, “I don’t want Luke Skywalker in my video.” Mark’s performance was too legendary for him to be quickly cast in other films, and he went on to do voiceover work for the rest of his career. He played the Joker, Batman’s evil nemesis, in a number of cartoon adaptations of the story over the last few decades.
Mark Hamill Now
Who cares what you look like when your only job is off-screen? After all, who cares if no one sees you? Mark Hamill let it slide for a while. And the traffic accident he was involved in while filming the first Star Wars film didn’t help matters. The crash left genuine scars, as seen in The Empire Strikes Back. As Star Wars resurfaced for a sequel trilogy, and he was approached to reprise the role of Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill was ordered to hit the gym and regain some of his previous good-looking glory. It worked, and he always thinks of it as the sex appeal he used to have.
