Currently buzz cuts are having quite the moment. From Miley Cyrus to Katy Perry to Cara Delevingne, a number of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities have opted to don a shaved head, whether it’s for a role or just a stylish statement. Sure, it’s a brave change but the ladies in our list prove the buzz cut is seriously beautiful.
Let’s just make it official: Kristen Stewart can literally pull off anything. Taking a look at her buzz cut makes me think, Bella Swan who? As the “face” of Chanel and Balenciaga fashion brands, Stewart has certainly made a change.
Just seeing Miley’s face below is enough to make you go, oh right, she went through a bit of “phase.” Not only did Cyrus change up her wardrobe and her hair, but also her musical style. Although it seems that she’s found her roots again in her new album, Younger Now.
Most of us are probably shocked to see Amber Rose WITH hair then without. The model and actress was compared to Cara Delevingne at this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards. Why? Their buzz cuts are practically identical.
Folks, Amandla Stenberg may be best known for her role of Rue in The Hunger Games and as Madeline Whittier in Everything, Everything, but she’s just getting started. Via her social media pages, Stenberg voices her opinion about cultural appropriation almost daily.
Up next is the English singer and songwriter, Jessie J. But you probably already know that, huh? While some may scoff at her unconventional musical and performance style, Jessie J is a walking legend – and don’t you forget it.
South African and American actress and film producer, Charlize Theron, is beautiful regardless of how she chooses to style her hair. Although in this case, she did it for her role in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Country music star Kellie Pickler makes the list, but for a heartwarming reason. In September 2012, while on Good Morning America Pickler shaved her head in support of her long time friend, Summer Holt Miller, who recently started chemotherapy after breast surgery.
Our girl Natalie actually shaved it all off back in 2005 for V for Vendetta. Oh, if you haven’t seen the film yet then you are seriously missing out. As a matter of fact, Portman’s hair shouldn’t even be a discussion here – it’s all about the movie for me!
Don’t tell me that you forgot the Goddess that is Angelina Jolie once shaved her hair for a movie role. The movie in question is the 1998 film Gia. Jolie was mimicking her role of the 80’s supermodel Gia Carangi, hence the buzz cut.
From one Hollywood legend to another. Just the year before Jolie, Demi Moore famously shaved her head for the incredible film GI Jane, and she still looked amazing. #girlpower
After Kate Hudson starred in the 2000 film Almost Famous, her career shot off like a rocket. Additionally, it hasn’t slowed down since.
In 2004, Jennifer Hudson hit the limelight thanks to her work on American Idol. Pretty much after that, everything changed for her career and for the better. 36 year old Hudson already has a Grammy to her name.
Well we’ve mentioned Cara Delevingne enough times and here she is. The English fashion model and actress sat down for an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, where she explained her decision to shave it all off. Basically Cara “hopes that the haircut won’t just be inspiring to her, but to all of her millions of fans as well, urging them to redefine their own conceptions of beauty.”
Singer and songwriter Katy Perry recently released her fifth album, Witness, which earned Perry her third number-one album on the U.S. Billboard 200. While on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Perry revealed the decision behind the stunning chop! “I went into my hairstylist the other day, and I was like, ‘I want the Ellen.’ And I got it!”
Oscar winner Anne Hathaway famously shaved her head for her breathtaking role as Fantine in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables.
