Speaking of music icons, we have Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll is considered to be one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century.
However, he passed away most tragically while on the toilet. It was 1977 and his last words were, “I’m going to the bathroom to read.”
Truman Capote
Capote was a novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and actor, whose many, many short stories, novels, plays, and nonfiction are recognized still to this day as literary classics.
From In Cold Blood to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, his work will live on. He passed away from liver failure when he was just 60 and his final words as he reached our for his mother, “Mama. Mama. Mama.”
