John Adams
John Adams was first and foremost an American patriot who served as the second President of the United States (1797–1801) and also as the first Vice President (1789–97). He was also a lawyer, diplomat, statesman, political theorist, and, as a Founding Father, he was a leader of the movement for American independence from Great Britain.
Then on July 4, 1826, at the age of 90, Adams lay on his deathbed as the country celebrated Independence Day. His final words were, “Thomas Jefferson still survives.” He was however mistaken as Jefferson had died five hours earlier at Monticello at the age of 82.
Bob Marley
As most people should know, Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, musician and guitarist who achieved much international fame and acclaim, with his blend of reggae, ska and rocksteady in his compositions. In 1977, Marley was diagnosed with a type of malignant melanoma, cancer of the skin.
Despite doctor’s best efforts, Marley passed away from the cancer having spread to his spread lungs and brain. He was 36 years old. His final words were to his son, Ziggy, “Money can’t buy life.”
