Jimmy Stewart first started out with his career on Broadway and had his first film role in 1936 when he was in the movie Murder Man. He soon moved into very dark roles and westerns. He played every type of person and took on every type of role throughout his 5-decade long career. He won an Academy Award in 1940 for his work in The Philadelphia Story.
