Lunch With Pattie
Clapton had decided that the first person he needed to see was certainly his ex, Pattie. Having parted on the worst of terms, he needed to know if there was still any spark, even if it was friendship. The pair met for lunch and had a great time. Clapton didn’t feel any hard feelings towards him and they spoke freely and fairly, he was thankful that they had that opportunity.

Keeping busy is always a good thing for recovering addicts, and Clapton had to start straight away with a continuation of a project that began in January 1987. Eric had agreed to play six shows on successive nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He played alongside Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes from the August sessions, Steve Ferrone and Phil Collins on drums, and Mark Knopfler on guitar. The performances were so popular it became a regular gig.
