Bonding With Conor
In those first few years of being sober, Clapton’s best memories were with his son and his mother. It was the closest Eric had ever had to “normal”. He loved Conor, a cute lad with long blond hair and brown eyes. Clapton referred back to old pictures of his Uncle Adrian as a boy, and he looked identical to his Conor. Conor was a curious, wonderful, gentle boy who was already walking by the age of 1.
Parenting Didn’t Come Naturally
For his many talents in the music world, parenting wasn’t something that came to Clapton instinctively. At the end of the day, he was a man-child trying to look after a baby. Lori took the lead in the parenting role, and did so excellently. Eric used to observe Conor, because he really didn’t know how to be a father. He was a bright child and every family member in his life loved him.
