New York Visit
As time went on, Eric began to feel more comfortable around Conor and felt that the feeling was reciprocated. He arranged to visit in New York City, where Lori and her new boyfriend had planned on purchasing an apartment. One evening he collected Conor and took him out by himself, to the circus. Being both nervous and excited, he loved the night out. Conor never stopped talking and loved the elephants. It was the first time that Clapton felt he was really grasping fatherhood. He was ready to step up.

A Tragic Morning
As Eric was finally getting into the swing of fatherhood, tragedy struck. Eric had agreed to pickup Lori and Conor, taking them to the zoo and lunch. It was at 11 a.m that the phone rang. Lori was hysterical on the phone screaming that Conor had died. Eric stood there while Lori told him Conor had fallen out of a window and had died. He rushed right over.
