In 2013, The Discovery Channel got a lot of flak for airing a fake documentary called “Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives” to kick off Shark Week. It was about a 70-foot ancient shark that was still alive. Megalodons likely existed between a million or two years ago. People complained about the hoax online, however. An unbelievable 4.8 million users still tuned into this show to watch the episode.
