The Harrow, England native broke the record with an amazing 3 minute and 59.4 second time. Even though his record was beaten just a mere 46 days later, he was one of the world’s most celebrate and respected athletes. His amazing run paved the way for other athletes, and he is always mentioned when new records are broken each year. After his career as a runner, he went on to become a world-renowned neurologist.
