Ali’s First Fight
Muhammad Ali’s first professional fight was at Freedom Hall in Louisville against West Virginia policeman, Tunney Hunsaker. The arena was sold out, fans excited to see the highly anticipated match. Ali won by unanimous vote, but we’re happy to hear the 2 boxers became good friends afterwards. This big fight earned Ali his well-respected name, and from then on he was remembered as the world’s greatest boxer. Ali retired from the sport in 1981 and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1984. After fighting the disease for 32 years, Ali succumbed in 2016 in his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Ali went to the Olympics once, and this was a shot from his anticipated appearance. Aside from being known as an incredible boxer, Ali is also remembered for his impact on the civil rights movement. Ali lit the torch at the Atlanta Summer Games in 1996 as a well-respected athlete and as an overall good man.
