What Time Era

Some things in the film don’t exactly match up with the time era it is intended to be. Such as in the scene where Jenny is doing drugs, there is a song playing called “Get Down Tonight” but it actually was released a year after. Also, when Jenny visits Forrest on Fourth Of July in 1976, the Statue of Liberty is shown with a gold torch, which was only added in 1986.

Forrest’s home is set in Greenbow, Alabama and was actually created just for the film. However, it looks as if it has historical value and this is exactly what the builders intended for. After filming, the home was destroyed, which many were angry about. Also, the home was actually built in Georgia.
