Jim Backus, like many of his fellow cast members, was not only a skilled actor, but also a well-known vocal artist who brought to life many of our favorite cartoon characters. While many people did not realize it, Backus’s most well-known voiceover character was most likely Mr. Magoo, whom he played in both cinema and television. Backus reprised his role in the Gilligan spin-offs and films, making Thurston one of his final appearances before his death in 1989.
