The athletes who take home medals from the Olympics never cease to amaze us. The sheer skill and discipline one has to have in order to reach such a level is incredible. There’s no doubt that those who’ve made it to the top have earned it with all their hard work. However, what happens once they’re done? When they go back home after they’ve won? Mia Hamm

Mia Hamm is unquestionably the face of U.S. women’s soccer and arguably globally. She first won gold at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and took home a second gold in at the 2004 Olympic Games Athens. Hamm has left the game but has earned a spot on the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Texas Hall of Fame, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame. She even became the first female inductee on the World Football Hall of Fame. Further, the American icon tied the knot with former Red Sox player Nomar Garciaparra in 2003 and currently co-owns the MLS club LAFC.

Matt Biondi

An outstanding swimmer throughout the ‘80s and early ’90s, Biondi has impressively won eight gold medals. At one point, he held five world records but he took home his first gold from the 1984 Los Angeles Games. At the 1988 Seoul Games, Biondi won five golds and earned two more at the ’92 Games in Barcelona. The butterfly and freestyle specialist is currently the swim and dive team head coach at the Sierra Canyon.
