Valles Marineris
Often dubbed the “Grand Canyon of Mars,” Valles Marineris is a system of immense canyons stretching over 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) long, making it the largest canyon in the solar system. This geological marvel is believed to have formed through a combination of tectonic activity and erosion.
Water on Mars
Although Mars is predominantly dry and arid today, evidence suggests that liquid water once flowed on its surface. Scientists have discovered ancient river valleys, lake beds, and minerals that can only form in the presence of water, indicating that Mars may have had a much wetter and potentially habitable past.
