Not Thrilled
Karen’s parents, as you can imagine, were not thrilled with the idea of their daughter getting married at a very young age, and since she was underage, they had the right to decide whether the marriage would happen at all.
Against Marriage
The parents were against the marriage, so they sent Karen to a maternity home. Before the 1970s, maternity homes were actually a thing, but today, a few maternity homes are left. These facilities provide mothers free medical care if the women lack financial resources to go to regular hospitals.
