In 1991, Ed O’Neill got cast in a film called Dutch. It’s a story that revolves around a working class guy who offers to pick up the son of his girlfriend from school to have an opportunity to know more about the boy. From there, things go downhill. On the show, the film was mentioned two times, once in a scene where Al was flying on a plane and another when Al and Peggy went out to rent a movie.

In spite of the success Married… With Children had, and the seven Emmy nominations the show received, it never won! In fact, the only shows that ran for a really long time and never got the grand prize are Married… With Children and Baywatch. Now, that is truly surprising.
