A green Statue of Liberty

We see Rose looking up at the majestic Statue of Liberty, which looks to be green with a golden flame, when she eventually arrives in New York after surviving the disaster. This makes great sense today, but not so much in 1912. The statue wasn’t actually green back then, but it was closer to its natural brown tint. It took almost 35 years for the statue’s hue to change to what it is now. The golden flame was also a late addition, installed in 1986 to commemorate the statue’s 100th anniversary, whereas the original flame was lighted from within.

One bloody punch

It was difficult to make combat and action sequences look realistic in the 1990s, so when we watch old movies today, we grimace at how badly they did it. In Titanic, for example, Rose clocks a crewman who is attempting to pull her to safety. In her defense, she was attempting to liberate Jack. He has blood on his hands even before grabbing his nose. He then wipes his face with his bloody hands, giving the impression that he has a bloody nose. The error was eventually fixed in the 2012 rerelease.
